SENATOR ALLAN CHESANG ATTENDS THE LAUNCH OF TRANS-NZOIA COUNTY INTERGRATED PLAN.
In a launch graced by Trans-Nzoia governor, George Natembeya, and, other leaders from the neighboring counties, Trans-Nzoia Senator Allan Chesang was not left behind. It was the launch of Trans-Nzoia county Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) 2023 – 2027, which was held in Kitale Club. The aim of this plan is to drive the socio-economic development and, improve the lives of the people of Trans-Nzoia.
The Plan covers different sectors including healthcare, agriculture, education, employment, infrastructure, water access, governance and, devolution. These area of coverage are in-line with the national government plan according to the Presidents’ agenda for the nation.
Progress has been made in the health care sector with the construction of a mother and, child hospital, improvements in medical supplies and, strengthened relations within health care labor unions. Trans-Nzoia Senator in his recent Free Medical camp oversaw more that ten thousand patients from in and, out of Trans-Nzoia counties receive quality medical care through his foundation.
The free medical camp came at a time when the people of Trans-Nzoia were in dire need of healthcare services. As the Senator, he partnered with different government and, non-governmental organizations and, offered free medical services inclusive of surgeries. This free medical camp was one of its kind not only in Trans-Nzoia but the neighboring counties too.
Trans-Nzoia Senator has said that Agriculture is priority given that the county is the basket of the nation. He reiterated that the government is keen on supplying subsidized seeds/fertilizers to promote diversification and, as well as training to farmers in the region. Him being a member of Agriculture and, livestock in the Senate, Sen Allan Chesang has said that he will priorities in formulating policies that positively impact the agriculture sector.
During the Launch the leaders highlighted efforts that have been made to address the different challenges in education and, training such as improving early childhood education and, vocational training. Additionally, road rehabilitation, access to clean water and, affordable housing were the key focus areas.
Governor Natembeya stated the measures put in place to enable easy access to county services at the grassroot level such as establishment of sub-county and ward offices. He pointed out their plan to implement measures to enhance disaster management, access to ICT services and, public financial management. ICT chairman in the Senate, highlighted the ICT plan for the counties by the government by mentioning the recently launched Jitume digital lab at the Kitale technical college and, the free public wi-fi.
Speaking during the launch, Governor Natembeya has said that the implementation of the CIPD is estimated to cost 52.2 billion shilling with available resources of 9 billion ksh creating a deficit of 3.2 billion ksh. Therefore, they will seek partnerships, grants and, donations to bridge the gap and, revamp their revenue collection.
The leaders stating that the success of the CIDP relies on effective execution and, institutional implementation. Highlighting the specific roles assigned to different institutions such as the County Executive Committee, county departments, the county assembly, national government agencies, development partners, civil society organizations and, the private sector holding on that monitoring and, evaluation structures have been incorporated to ensure the plans are successfully implemented.
The launch was closed with leaders present tossing and, making merry to its success.
Later on, Trans-Nzoia Senator attended church service at St Joseph ACK, Kitale. Afterwards, attending the medical fundraiser of family and, friends of Mr. Wilson Githenji is his home in Sikhendu-Kiminini constituency.
