DEALS SIGNED IN FAVOUR OF TRANS-NZOIA COUNTY

On the 15th of March the President of the republic of Kenya, His Excellency William Ruto, met with the leaders from Trans-Nzoia County. The President announced plans to modernize Kitale Town after He held an exclusive meeting with the leaders from the region from the house on the hill. The President also committed to upgrading roads, and fixing sewerage systems within the town of Kitale, amongst other pledges.

Among the roads set to be upgraded in the program included the 15-Kilometre Kipsongo-Kitalale road connecting Kitale to other strategic towns in the region that was marked for upgrading to bitumen standards. The 75km Tarbo-Barbaton-Kissawai-Endebess road was also earmarked for upgrading in a bid to enhance the transport sector of the Town and, also businesses in the region by allowing smooth transportation of goods and services.

On matters relating to health services in the county, President Ruto committed to equipping the Trans-Nzoia county and Referral hospital in a bid to boost its ability to offer a wider range of services to the people of Trans-Nzoia and its environs’, and enhance efficiency. The equipment’s, His Excellency noted, will be done within the next three months from the date of the meeting. In addition, The President also promised to commit at least 150 acres of land to give room for Kitale Town expansion.

The Trans-Nzoia senator noted that in his speech that it is time for the people of his county to move forward by all means. Stating that the people of Trans-Nzoia will not be used and left behind. Hon Allan stated that they will not be a laughing stock on matters development or a reference point for poverty. He noted and I quote, “There is NO alternative for development and only chastise us when we have the same level of development as you! Before then, allow us to get where you are!”

In concluding his speech, The President noted that Kitale had been left in a “sorry state” despite its huge potential of growing into a city. Also present in the meeting were Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, National Assembly speaker Moses Wetangula, Governor of Trans-Nzoia county, George Natembeya, Health CS Susan Nakhumicha, Foreign Affairs PS Korir Singoei, MPs Lilian Siyoi, Patrick Simiyu, and Ferdinand Wanyonyi.
