MEETING STAKEHOLDERS FROM THE TELECOMMUNIATION SECTOR.

The Senate Information Communication and, Technology (ICT) committee has held a crucial meeting that has brought together an esteemed group of stakeholders from the telecommunications sector. Cabinet Secretary of Information, Communication and, Digital Economy, Mr. Eliud Owalo, the Director General of Communication Authority of Kenya, (CAK), Mr. Ezra Chiloba, the CEO of Safaricom Ltd, Mr. Peter Ndegwa, the CEO of Jamii Telecommunication, Mr. C.K. Joshua and, the chief strategy and Business Development Officer at Telkom Kenya, Mr. Julius Cheptiony were the invited guests at the ICT committee meeting.

The primary focus of this meeting has been to carefully deliberate on responses from the telecommunication stakeholders and address the statements requested on the floor of the senate by the Senators.

During this closed door meeting, the discussions has been dynamic and comprehensive. It has covered a wide range of topics related to Information, Communication and, Digital Economy. They collaboratively explored innovative strategies on how to advance these sectors by ensuring equitable access, digital inclusion and sustainable growth for all Kenyans.

The synergy and commitment to collaboration between the Senate ICT committee lead by Trans-Nzoia Senator, Allan Chesang, and the different stakeholders was truly remarkable during this discussion. Leveraging their extensive expertise and, industrious insights, they engaged in productive discussions that will shape the future of the Telecommunication landscape in Kenya.

Speaking during the meeting, ICT Chairman, Hon Allan Chesang, said that as they forge ahead, they are committed to fostering strong public-private partnerships in order to ensure a thriving economy. He, Sen Allan, has also reiterated that they will drive regulatory reforms and, enable a conducive environment for technological advancements and digital transformations in the country.

Cabinet Secretary, Mr. Eliud Owalo, informed the Senators that his Ministry has put in place measures to support critical information, network operators and, service providers to manage cybersecurity, through sharing of cyber threat advisories targeted at their network and, resolution by cyber incidents.

Kenyans are hopeful that this meeting between the Senate ICT Committee and, telecommunication stakeholders will drive positive changes, enhance connectivity and, empower them through cutting edge information and, communication technologies.
