TRANS-NZOIA SENATOR ALLAN CHESANG IS THE DISTINGUISHED GUEST.

Trans-Nzoia Senator has salute the Communication Authority of Kenya for organizing this years ICT week celebrations at the Safari Park hotel, Nairobi. In alignment to the Presidents ICT agenda to the country during his manifesto launch, he promised the people of Kenya Free public Wi-Fi. The Presidents aim is to ensure more digital job creations by ensuring every Kenyan can access internet. This initiate mostly targets youths not only in the urban centers but rural areas too.

During the ICT week, The Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communication and the Digital Economy, Hon. Eliud Owalo invited different stakeholders in the ICT space. It has been one of its kind in the country and this initiative is to support Kenyas transition into the digital space. The Trans-Nzoia Senator who is the Chairman for ICT in the Senate was among the distinguished guests.

He, Hon. Allan Chesang, gave his remarks stating that the committee will create policies for the betterment of ICT sector in our country. Honorable Allan has said lawmaking is an ongoing process and, encouraged stakeholders to contact the committee incase of any concerns about closing gaps or amending the legislative framework in order to create an enabling environment in the ICT sector. He has also urged the youth to be vigilant and take these opportunities to create employment.

The Cabinet Secretary for ICT and, digital economy, Eliud Owalo, has reiterated on the Presidents Plan for the digital economy, free public wi-fi hotspots in all parts of the country and collaboration with other stakeholders to ensure that the country is digitized. Cabinet Secretary has promised to achieve a full digital revolution in the period between 2023 and 2027.

In the words of His Excellency William Samoei Ruto and, I quote, “every Kenyan will have internet connectivity in the next five years, so as to support this young person struggling with bundles. Every school, hospital, dispensary and even market will be connected to the internet.” The chairman of ICT in the Senate also echoed these words from The President and, told Kenyans to be Patient as they implement their promises.
