EXAMINING THE OPERATIONS OF NZOIA WATER COMPANY.

TRANS-NZOIA GOVERNOR SITS AT THE SPECIAL FUNDS COMMITTEE.

In a meeting Chaired by Trans-Nzoia Senator, Allan Chesang, Governor George Natembeya sat at the Senate County Public investment and Public Fund Committee (CPIC). The purpose of the gathering was to thoroughly examine the operations of Nzoia water service company (NZOWASCO). The river sources of this company include rivers Kuywa, Kapolet and, Kibisi.

The Senate Committee conveyed to address the financial inconsistencies in the Nzoia Water Service Company but regrettably only the governor attended . They held the meeting regardless and the governor highlighted to the committee some of the challenges the company faces. The committee took into account the challenges but had to reschedule the meeting to a later date stressing the need for an all-round representation from all stakeholders. The Chair, Sen Allan Chesang, reiterated on the need for accountability for better service delivery to the people of Trans-Nzoia and the neighboring counties.

After rescheduling the meeting, ICT Committee chaired by ICT Chairman, Allan Chesang, met with Senator Karen Nyamu to deliberate on her legislative proposal. This Proposal is on The Digital Literacy Bill, 2023 at Parliament buildings. Sen. Nyamu outlined her objectives and, reasons for coming up with the legislation to the committee. She has urged the committee to offer her their full support on this digital bill.

Chairing the committee, Senator Allan Chesang, has resolved to invite different stakeholders in the Digital Literacy Sector to expound on the proposal before submitting the Bill. The Bill is in line with the Governments’ plan on the digitization of not only service delivery, but job creation to the youths.
