SENATOR ALLAN CHESANG CHAIRS THE COMMITTEE
The Senate committee chairman of Information, Communication, and Technology, Hon Allan Chesang of Trans-Nzoia county, on the 21st of February chaired a meeting at the parliament building. The purpose of the meeting was to consider the 2023 Budget Policy Statement (BPS) of the State Department for ICT and Digital Economy and the State Department for Broadcasting and Telecommunication.
The Budget Policy Statement sets out the state departments’ priority programs. policies, reforms, and proposed allocation that will be implemented in the medium-Term expenditure framework. This will also provide the committee with a Legislative avenue to inform the Budget at policy and aggregate resource allocation levels.
Senator Allan Chesang during the committee meeting emphasized the need to provide a platform where digital innovation is embraced in the financial sector to make Kenya a more investment destination! Other Members in attendance were Senator Godfrey Osotsi, Senator William Kisang Kipkemoi, Sen Samson Kiprotich Cherarkey, Senator Beatrice Akinyi Ogola, Senator Shakila Abdalla Mohamed, and Senator Karen Njeri Nyamu.
