TRANS-NZOIA SENATOR SPEAKS AT THE NOREB PEACE SUMMIT 2023.
The North-Rift Economic Bloc Peace Summit (NOREB) has been in operation for more than 10 years but couldn’t undertake any tangible activities due to lack of legal framework. In a summit held in Eldoret in early May, the governors from the region signed a corporation agreement and, the NOREB Bill. This Bill provides a legal framework within which NOREB operates.
NOREB peace summit is a joined corporation that brings together the counties of Trans-Nzoia, Turkana, West-Pokot, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Samburu, Baringo, Uasin Gishu and, Nandi county. After the office of the Attorney General questioned the operations of NOREB for the last 10 years, the county assemblies of these regions ratified the Bill hence formally and, legally created the Noreb bill. They will, all counties from these region legalize Noreb activities.
Nandi Governor, Steven Sang, who is the Chairman of Noreb has said they have not undertake any meaningful activities but the Summit has provided a platform for them to spearhead the way forward. In his statement he has reiterated that with the signed corporation accord and, the Noreb Bill, they will be more vibrant as they jointly seek to improve the economy of the region.
Speaking during the peace summit, Trans-Nzoia governor, George Natembeya echoed the words of his counterpart, Nandi governor, assuring the leaders present that Trans-Nzoia will not be left behind in this noble course. The governor led other leaders from the region in this summit geared towards building cohesion and, sustainable development in the trouble region.
Present during the peace summit is Trans-Nzoia Senator who did not hesitate to give his remarks on the tremendous progress of this corporation. Echoing that NOREB will continue working with the national government and, other players to implement long-term measures that will mitigate drought and, food shortages in the affected counties.
Later on, Trans-Nzoia Senator was honored to be among the invited guests at the launch of Kwetu-Nyumbani children’s’ home in Kiminini constituency. He shared light moments with the children and, guest present. His love for kids is immeasurable.
